When did you move to Charlotte?
Moved to Charlotte in 1995

How did you get started in real estate?
As I was finishing up my MBA, I focused on landing a job with the top commercial real estate firm at time, Coldwell Banker. I started in the market research department.

Brief summary of career:
After market research, I spent 12 years in brokerage. Then in the mid-90’s I transitioned to management, which brought me to Charlotte in 1995.

How has the region changed since your presidency?
Charlotte has become much more of a region. In 1995 business was mostly done in Mecklenburg County. The transformation downtown has been another major development – now there are places to shop, eat and stay, much more now than before.

When President, what accomplishment were you most proud of?
We successfully maintained CRCBR’s membership, programming, education, technology, and legislative strength despite considerable economic headwinds.

What are the 1-2 most important events that happened to CRCBR during your presidency?
Bank of America and Wells Fargo maintaining strong headcounts in Charlotte despite anticipation by the market that they might do otherwise. The other major development was Charlotte’s emergence as an Energy Hub.

What's your favorite Charlotte restaurant, now or then?
Custom Shop in the Elizabeth neighborhood

What is your favorite piece of architecture in Charlotte?
Bank of America Corporate Center – distinguished and timeless.
